Olaf Scholz is a German politician who has served as the Chancellor of Germany since December 2021, following the 16-year tenure of Angela Merkel. He previously served as Vice Chancellor of Germany and Federal Minister of Finance from 2018 to 2021, and as First Mayor of Hamburg from 2011 to 2018. A member of the Social Democratic Party, Scholz leads a three-party coalition government. His leadership has been marked by challenges including Germany's response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
