About Tim Berners-Lee

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, born June 8, 1955, is an English computer scientist best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web. In 1989, while working at CERN, he proposed a global hypertext project which became the Web. Rather than patenting his invention, he made it freely available to everyone, transforming global communication. As founder of the World Wide Web Consortium and the Web Foundation, he continues to advocate for an open, accessible, and free internet.
